[Action] I'M HERE... How did so many days pass what happen
Hopefully he's not doing anything else unseemly that deserves a punch in the face. ]
Gintoki.
no subject
He enjoyed nice weather.
He's writing something on some parchment that he was able to get here with ink and a bamboo— obviously it's completely in Japanese, so he must be writing something to another Japanese person or writing something to himself.
Either way, he stops instantly when Tsukuyo calls his name, peering up at her. ]
Looks like we're stuck making hard decisions.
[ Pause. ]
Again.
[ He knows Tsukuyo wants to talk about something serious here. That's usually her deal. ]
no subject
She stops by his side and tries to take a peek at what he's writing. ]
What've you had to choose before?
no subject
Last time.. we had to make peace between two different races and somehow make the fallen sun come back up. There were no specific instructions— hardly any information given to us about the world we were in the people that live there. A lot of decisions had to be made among all of us.. but the problem is— all of us have different opinions on things.
With this..
I don't want the people that are left in this world to die.
[ The list he was making were last minute to-do's for the Nalawi people. If they were going to permanently lose their powers, Gintoki wanted to teach them how to survive again. ]
.. but some people don't see it that way.
[ He's grown attached to the deer folks, but Tsukuyo doesn't need to know that. ]
no subject
That so? Don't everyone wanna help them?
no subject
—No.
Some people want justification for those they killed in their war. They want to kill more in the name of the Dakal people.
[ He scratches his head, avoiding eye contact with Tsukuyo. ]
All they were trying to do is protect each other.
That is the only thing worth fighting for.
[ And now, they may not survive with both of the goddesses soon to perish. ]
This isn't helping them.
This is interfering with their war.
[ And it's ALASTAIR's fault for bringing them here. ]
no subject
Then they're delusional.
With that thinkin', we might as well just blow up this whole world while we're at it.
[ She understands it, but that seems to come from the idea that the Dakal were completely innocent in the whole ordeal. A war doesn't have something like good and evil. Killing the Nalawi ... That's simply pointless. It doesn't get them anything except "justification" for people who are already dead.
And not at the hands of the Nalawi, but at the hands of their goddess.
Even Pomarr only wants her people back. She doesn't seem in a rush to murder any deer. ]
I'm with you.
[ She can't say she has any particular attachment to the Nalawi, but she only came in at the end.
Something Gintoki considers worth protecting probably is. ]

He doesn't want to contribute to anymore pain. That would make him a villainous character! Gin-san is nothing like that. In fact, his heart is aching for this predicament they're in, and he honestly can't wait to get back to Oska and just snuggle into Sadaharu's fur.
Really. He can't wait to just go back home.
It's been exhausting. He was here, and then he wasn't— he went back home for a good long while— and right after the Shogun's passing, he ended up here again.
Why.
If he has to be here, can't the rest of the Yorozuya be here too? ]
I think it's time we start caring about who is in charge of all of this.
no subject
Whaddya think about ALASTAIR, then?
no subject
—They're not the heroes they think they are.
[ That's for certain. ]
no subject
So what do we do about them? Can we do anything about them?
[ She's already uncertain about this whole ... meddling in other worlds' affairs thing. It doesn't seem quite right. What authority do they really have? Who gave them that authority? ]
no subject
It's effort, doin' crap.
[ That's not his real reasoning for not doing anything about it. Rather, he doesn't know who to talk to about this. They're mysterious– these ALASTAIR people.
A beat. He'll be serious, he guesses: ]
We can't unless we know more about'em.
fails at being consistent with her accent wow
Effort. Of course. ]
Then we'll have t'find out more about 'em.
patpats
How nice if you volunteer to find out everything about them and report your findings back to me so I can heroically get to the bottom of this.
[ ok maybe he isn't being serious (or is he???)
Please hit him, Tsukki. ]
lies down
She doesn't move from her seat, as she drives a curled fist into his forehead. ]
I ain't volunteerin' for anythin', ya lazy bastard.
no subject
Guess it wouldn't hurt to start with those talking cats. They seem to know what was up.
I hate cats.
[ but gin.. u are a cat. ]
no subject
Sure ya do.
Does anyone know what's up?
no subject
Why should I work for somebody I don't know crap about?
Why should I even work?
[ that part is muttered, but you know. She probably hears it. ]
no subject
Is anybody forcin' ya? Do they do anythin' if ya just don't bother?
[ She knows you, Gintoki. You still accept the missions because you hope that you'll actually be able to help. Because this is precisely the thing you usually do.
It just seems that ALASTAIR works a little differently. Where Gintoki would topple governments and fight nature and time itself if necessary to try and get his way, ALASTAIR is more concerned with something like a bigger picture. From what little she knows of them.
That isn't at all how Gintoki operates.
She wonders if there's a right or wrong in any of it. ]

Home to Edo.
Home to the city and the people he loves so much. ]
—It's just part of the job.
I don't back out from any jobs, no matter how big or how small.
[ even though he was complaining earlier, it's obvious he didn't mean any of that.
She doesn't need to know (though she may have an idea) of how much he misses where he belongs.
In the city he is destined to protect. ]
no subject
Even from her point of view, he seems out of place in Nalawi, even if he easily makes odd friends wherever he goes. ]
So stop whinin'.
[ Of course she knows it wasn't serious. Doesn't make it not annoying.
Whiny baby. ]
no subject
[ .. And we can go back home together. ]
After all, I just know doing Odd Jobs with.. company.
[ The company of his underlings.
The two people that make him feel alive. ]
no subject
[ What else would that mean? Of course she'll help him.
Considering all the times he's helped her, she can't just say he's on his own. Especially since they only have each other, here. ]
