Oi, it's wonderful. Don't think otherwise. [ for heaven's sake, he doesn't want you to cry again. ]
[ Gintoki shifts and steadies himself by Olivia's side, his hand reaching over to splay along her back. Looks like he is trying to escort her along— we're going on a walk now..!? How exciting. ]
My world doesn't have one thing I want, though— do you know what that is?

Wh-What's that...?
this icon goes with it
You can wish for whatever you want and it comes true.
[ Yeah, he's talking about Dragon Ball Z. ]
i thought he was kenshin in that icon...
Oh my gosh... That sounds amazing! I can see why you'd want something like that, Mr. Fruit...
[ nodnodnod.
but also— ]
So what would you wish for?
1.2 ur wrong its yamcha ..
—Ah.
2.2
[ He could be honest with Olivia — right here, right now. He could talk about all sorts of things he wishes could come true. It could be maybe actually knowing his parents since he grew up without them, or maybe growing up with siblings; something that would have made him feel less alone. He could have wished for an actual home or domestic upbringing when he was little and instead was abandoned on the battlefield— picking at corpses like some scavenger. Gintoki could wish for love— and wish for his love to be reciprocated. What was the fun in that, though? Love needs to come from the heart and as pure as possible or what is it worth?
He could wish for luck and prosperity for the people in the city he cared so much about; Kagura behaving like an actual lady — Shinpachi actually getting a girlfriend who cared about him and treated him well. They both would be successful, wonderful people.
Truth of the matter is, he knew that he probably wouldn't have to wish for that. It would come naturally in due time.
Maybe he could wish him back to life; maybe he could wish the most important person to him was still living today. The person who took him in and raised him and that he built the strongest bond with of all.
Maybe he could wish the war never happened.
Though, something in the back of Gintoki's mind, knew things happen for a reason and whatever path he constructs for himself.. it shouldn't ever change once you have walked over it.
He breathes out the dumbest answer, his arms outstretching for emphasis: ]
A giant, never ending parfait.
[ This is a child you are talking to, Olivia.
And as crestfallen of a person a he could be, and as much as a burden as he was baring— as hard as it would be for him to be genuinely happy..
Gintoki wouldn't change anything about his life for the world, even if it didn't seem like he truth sometimes.
Without his suffering, he knew that he wouldn't understand what it would be like to try so desperately to make the world not feel what he has felt and gone through.
Perhaps this is why he wants to help and protect people so much. ]

something a little deeper into this man who has so easily captured her attention — though, admittedly, it would be inaccurate to say that's particularly hard — or, at this point, she'd settle for something just shallow enough. who is he, why does he do what he does, what land does he come from with such weird phrases and weirder carriages, what's made his eyes look so deep and hollow and old, what is his name.
what thoughts must he be thinking, to make such a short and silent pause seem to last an eternity in uncertainty.
but it's a greedy need, she knows that well enough. she has no right to know, and he has no business in telling her. she'll continue to pry, whenever she grows brave enough, or forgets her worries enough to be foolish, but until then she will settle for just this; these quiet, stolen moments where she's almost able to pretend she kind of maybe almost deserves it.
she smiles faintly, and maybe it's a little sad, but it's also a little thankful. grateful he's even shared this much with someone helplessly caught in his orbit. ]
That sounds nice, [ she concedes, not quite like a white flag, but close enough to it that it probably doesn't really matter at this point.
the snow stops crunching under her feet when she halts, glancing back from where they came. ] We should probably check back on Ranmaru. She might wonder where we've gone.
[ crunch crunch crunch as she starts walking again, and then a pause, and then she's swiveling back on a heel to gently poke the wooden orb hanging low in his pocket. ]
The melody reminds me of you. I hope you'll give it a listen the next time you're aching for that parfait.
[ a bashful smile, and then she's turning away once more.
crunch crunch crunch. ]

A melody? This thing is a music box? Huh. He scratches his cheek as she turns away and walks off. Gintoki resumes on the opposite direction — further into the woods he goes!
Gintoki pulls the music orb from his pocket and turns the key, cocking his head to the side when it plays a song. ]
Ah. I see.
[ The music chimes as he walks forward, and, once he finds himself a bush, he'll push part of his yukata back and unzip his fly, releasing a warm, golden shower on the near naked shrub.
What a nice little tune to piss to. ]
